Email Marketing Strategies Revealed
Increase Your Company's Profits with Direct Email

If you have been in business for a while, you probably have tried at least one conventional mass mail campaign to promote your business. Conventional mass mailing is probably the most-used selling technique. Even with a response rate of only about one percent, it can be effective and profitable. Mass mailings are also one of the more economical ways of advertising a business. A one-piece mailing (one page letter and tri-fold brochure) costs less than $1.00 per person depending upon the cost of the brochure. Larger, heavier mailings cost substantially more...

Just suppose that you could distribute a direct mail piece instantly for as little as fifteen cents per message sent, including postage, with a response rate of around ten percent. Interested? Then you may want to try direct email, one of the fastest growing selling mediums around.

Before you send a direct email piece you must understand one IMPORTANT rule: Sending blind mass mailings over the Internet is completely against "netiquette", or Internet protocol. No one appreciates junk mail - especially that which costs the recipient money - and so unwelcome messages ("spam") only cause trouble. If you opt to send blind mass mailings, be prepared to be spammed back with vast amounts of not-so-nice messages ("flames"). Remember that direct email should only be sent to persons who request information.

How do you find potential buyers to request your sales information? You have several options: you can purchase lists from various list sellers to target your product to a particular market; you can place ads on various bulletin boards or purchase space in an Internet mall; you can provide a request form on your own web page; or, you can contract the services through a reputable company.

If you choose to work with an outside firm, your email announcement will be distributed to individuals all over the world sign up to receive email messages about specific topics. They might be interested in business services, consulting, or specific fields like medicine or law. They might want to receive announcements relating to sports, entertainment, or computer technology. If you signed with a service to distribute your direct email piece, your message is sent to those persons interested in your subject matter. Since these individuals requested the information, they are more likely to read your email. Without any effort and exhaustive research on your part, you have a targeted audience voluntarily requesting information on your business.

Remember, the speed of marketing on the Web is also vastly different than more conventional means. Selling through the mail can take days, weeks, or even months. Selling by direct email can happen instantly, or it could take several messages back and forth between you and a potential customer before you get the sale. If you are going to market a product by email, be prepared to respond to your customer's questions immediately. Internet buyers are impatient buyers. They expect answers to their questions and concerns the same day they ask them.

Advertising and marketing via the Internet is remarkably affordable, compared to other techniques. It may not replace other sales methods, of course, but it is an important new business enhancement fast becoming a requirement as more and more businesses join the ever-changing World Wide Web, and more and more consumers shop the Internet.
